Bassist/Bandleader Lello Molinari returns to his Italian roots, reimagines classic repertoire in stunning modern Jazz settings. Lello's Italian Job, Volume 2 features Italian and Italian-American musicians transforming folk and popular songs and classical arias from throughout Italy's rich musical history.

It's often been said that "you can't go home again" - but with his Italian Job project, Lello Molinari proves that old cliché wrong. The acclaimed bassist has not only returned to his Italian roots, but brought with him three decades of experience as a bandleader, an educator, and a virtuosic bassist with his fingers on the pulse of modern jazz. Now he views the unparalleled musical traditions of his homeland through the lens of a lifetime's worth of accumulated musical knowledge, creating something that's both Old World and New, deeply personal while reflecting a profound tradition.

This is Lello Molinari's 5th Cd as a Leader. "Lello's Italian Job" Volume 2. The second installment on a project that started in 2014 when they released this project's first Cd. "Lello's Italian Job" is an exploration of open improvisation and the arranging of Italian music, ranging from traditional folk music, to classical arias, to popular songs through Jazz interpretation. On this Cd there is music from Mascagni, Respighi, Pino Daniele, Renato Carosone and more. Lello plays both Acoustic & Electric Bass, sometime with loops, Dino Govoni plays Tenor & Soprano Saxes, Flute, Clarinet & EWI, Sal DiFusco plays Acoustic & Electric Guitars and Mandolin, Marcello Pellitteri plays Drums and Percussions. Some of the tunes are completely acoustic and some are electric, some are classical pieces, some are straight ahead Jazz tracks, some have a New Orleans feel to it, some are completely improvised and some are through-composed. It will constantly surprise and delight the listener with turns at every corner, and yet there is a homogenous feel to the CD and a specific direction to this project. Lello returns to the RegattaBar, to celebrate the release of his latest CD, where he has appeared many times before and where he recorded his second Cd live "On a Boston Night" released on Accurate Records in 1995.
